"Mr Softball" Dave Braga

In Memory of

Dave Braga

1947-2006

Dave Braga, 59, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away on September 23, 2006. Dave was a devoted husband and father, dedicated realtor and girls' fast pitch softball fan. He was full of life, community spirit and always giving to and thinking of others. Dave was born August 9, 1947 in Newport, RI. to Navy parents, Johnette Prather and Paul Byres. He returned home to Gooding, ID, where he spent much of his young life. After graduating from Long Beach State in 1972, Dave took a position with the City of Scottsdale Parks and Recreation department. But, in 1984 he ventured into real estate sales and went on to have a long, distinguished career with Realty Executives. Dave married Sue in 1974 and after being blessed with four daughters, he entered the world of girls' sports. He is known as an icon in the girls' fast pitch softball community having worked with Scottsdale Miss Softball and numerous club teams, including Scottsdale Storm. He coached, advocated and supported not only his daughters but all girls. He also coached soccer and volleyball. Dave lost his final battle with pancreatic cancer after many little victories. But, it did not matter what his issues were, he was more concerned about the person sitting next to him when getting his chemo treatments. That was Dave. He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sue; daughters, Devyn, Kaitlin, Tessa, and Gina (Ross) O'Hanley; brothers, Jim (Roxie), John (Mary), and Donald (Sharon); nieces, Laurie, Jennifer, Stephanie, Tobey, Darcy, Jordan, and Kristy; nephews, Dan, Troy, Tyler, Jim and Jon; and mother-in-law, Joanne. Dave always leaves behind to cherish his memory countless other friends and acquaintances whose lives he touched along the way. Services will be held at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Rd., Scottsdale, AZ on Thursday, September 28, 2006. A visitation will be held from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. with a Celebration of Dave's Life to begin at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Chaparral Diamondbackers Softball, Chaparral High School, Scottsdale, AZ http://www.chaparralsoftball.com/join.htm.
